The road to where we are now…

The story of P27 starts with our founder Paul Goyette. He started racing at the age of 12 giving him over 40 years on the track as well as turning wrenches as a young boy to owning his own repair shop. His passion has never faded and has only grown as time has gone on. From racing NESC to Pro Motocross, to traveling to areas as far as Canada and Costa Rica. He holds decades of memories and relationships that only fuel his passion and the deeper meaning behind motocross. Around 2011 Paul decided to start a race team in support of his close friend’s son, Johnny Girroir, who is now known as one of New England’s top offroad riders. This race team would later be known as the P27 Race Team, originating from what many would guess, his track nickname “Poacher” as well as his favorite race number #27. Through the years of his race team, and still today, he brings riders under his wing, giving coaching support and mechanical help to everyone he can. Around the same time the race team started, Paul started racing a newer New England series, building a relationship with the founder John Day. After a couple years passed, Paul and John worked together and also built the Enduro-Cross style tracks known as the “Moto Rodeo” events. Later, as the demand for racing offroad grew in the area, John and Paul tried to think of a Grand Prix format expansion reaching further into eastern New York and north-western New England, which would be run separately by Paul. Their idea grew organically into NYOffroad, established in 2017, and has evolved into P27Offroad as of 2022. As years have passed P27Offroad has incorporated quads, pit bikes, and stacyc bikes, and holds events in Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. Each GP is different than the year before, even if it is held at the same venue, we never run the same track twice! Our founder holds integrity and a passion that is easily seen through his work and his support to all riders. Whether you decide to race with us or another series, he is always elated to see the growth of riders and the passion that they share. As we grow, we intend to never lose sight of Paul’s mission; to keep the sport and moto community alive while fueling the fire in the young riders and next generation. It’s not always about winning but being proud of small successes!
